Anyone got thoughts on an IH 435 baler. I'm looking for good, bad, or whatever. Any flaws. I'm a NH or Deere man normally, but this seems like a fairly high capacity machine.

The 435 should a baling machine. I only used one before but it got it done. I have baled gazillions of bales with an IH 430 and it is the best I ever pulled. I don't think the 435's used the All Twine Knotters like the 430 did but may be wrong as that one time is all I used a 435.

I wrench on NH balers a lot. A customer with a 435 got the notion I could work on it, and I suppose it has been successful for him, as he likes the baler, and I make it work for him. It does have the all twine knotter which took me a while to get my head around. The other disturbing thing is the number of parts that are NLA, and the cost of the parts that can be had. For example, plunger knives list for well over $200 each and a bill hook is about the same. Similar parts for a NH baler are about half.
If I were looking for a small square baler, I would only consider NH, Deere, or a Hesston-built inline model.

the difference between the 430, 435 and 440 balers were the size of the bales. i wore a 440 out and never liked it but was stuck with it. the inside string was so close to the edge it would come off real ease. you alwsys had to look before picking up a bale baled with it.

Thanks Rick, thats what I wanted to hear, another baler mechanics point of veiw. Looks like I'm gonna continue the search for my lightly worn 338 or 348 deere. I deffinatly don't need any more dinosaurs around here to hunt parts for.

we bought a 425 new and it was an excellent baler, baled many thousands of bales with no knotter trouble, knotters are the Deering style which is the same as a NH, 430-440 had the all twine knotter. Dad sold it on his farm sale in 99 and I regret not buying it many times and selling my 24T on his sale. I would buy a 425 in a second if I could find one.

Is this 435 near NE Kansas? I have two 440s and a 430. I love them all. I had a NH S78 which is around the same age baler and it was junk. It made banana bales, mistied every 3-5 bales, and sheared the shear bolts often. I would buy 3 bags of shear bolts each year when I used it. The only problem I had with one of the 440s was that it picked up a good sized stick somehow and broke a needle and bent the needle yoke.

Its here in NC, local NH dealer took it on trade. I'm really concerned about parts availibilty. We cant afford downtime and loose 3-4000 bales of hay because it took 3 or 4 days to get a part. Thats why everything else here is green. It just seemed to be a good deal and would be if I didnt have to rely on it so much.
